A 16-year-old boy charged in what authorities say was a plot to bomb a Roy High School assembly is being ordered to stay in a juvenile detention center.

The Ogden Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/ACmeKq ) the boy appeared briefly in court Friday morning on a charge of possessing a weapon of mass destruction.

He's set to appear in juvenile court Feb. 8, but prosecutors are seeking to try him as an adult.

The Associated Press normally does not identify juveniles who are suspects in crimes or charged in juvenile court.

The 18-year-old Dallin Morgan faces the same charge in adult court. He faces a life sentence if convicted.

Police arrested the two Jan. 25, saying the teens had been plotting to bomb their school, then steal a plane and flee the country.
