The University of Nebraska Medical Center will add a new doctoral program in epidemiology starting next fall.
Dr. Dana Loomis, chairman and professor of epidemiology, says epidemiology is a specialized field in which only 39 other medical centers in the United States offer a degree.
Epidemiologists design and conduct studies to identify causes of disease, evaluate interventions and contribute to risk assessment.
The degree will be the fifth doctoral program offered through the College of Public Health.
