Illinois health officials are asking people to wear red Friday to raise awareness about women's risk of heart disease.

The first Friday in February is National Wear Red Day, an observance to highlight heart disease in women.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women and men. The Illinois Department of Public Health suggests these questions to ask your doctor:

?What is my risk for heart disease?

?What is my blood pressure? What does it mean for me and what do I need to do about it?

?What are my cholesterol numbers? What do they mean for me and what do I need to do about them?

?Do I need to lose weight for my health?

More ideas are on the health department's website.
