A team of researchers led by Dr. Alan Greenberg, of George Washington University, has received a $3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to the District of Columbia Developmental Center for AIDS Research.

The center’s mission is to nurture the next generation of D.C.’s HIV/AIDS investigators. The city has one of the highest rates of infection in the country.

“It will encourage junior and established researchers to pursue and develop their careers in HIV/AIDS research, and help unite HIV/AIDS researchers from across the District with a common purpose,” Greenberg said.

Greenberg said his team will use the grant to do clinical, lab and behavioral research.
