Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., Rep. Gwen Moore, D-Wis., and Stephanie Cutter from President Obama's campaign team joined a panel on women and political power Wednesday afternoon. The panel, hosted by the Center for American Progress, briefly went off the rails for McCaskill during the Q&A session, when she was forced to clarify that she was not advocating political assassination.

An audience member asked the panel how she could influence officials in her home state of Virginia, including Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and Gov. Bob McDonnell, who do not align with her politically. McCaskill jumped on the question, advising the woman to call, write letters and possibly seek office herself.

"I would say leave here motivated," the senator said. "Take one of them out."

Laughter erupted, prompting both panel host Judy Woodruff and McCaskill to clarify that she meant "electorally," not physically.

"That's all I need on YouTube," she said.
