President Trump announced that he is “feeling well” on social media as speculation regarding his health spread on Saturday afternoon.

“Doctors, Nurses and ALL at the GREAT Walter Reed Medical Center, and others from likewise incredible institutions who have joined them, are AMAZING!!!” the president tweeted. “Tremendous progress has been made over the last 6 months in fighting this PLAGUE. With their help, I am feeling well!”

In an update provided by the president’s physician, Dr. Sean Conley, he said that the president was doing well and that he is “extremely happy” with the president’s progress so far, hours before the president shared his update on Twitter. However, the optimism that Conley portrayed was dampened when a White House official reportedly expressed a darker reality to the White House press pool.

“The president’s vitals over the last 24 hours were very concerning, and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care,” the source told the press pool, before noting that “we’re still not on a clear path to a full recovery.”

He was transported to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center after showing “mild symptoms” on Friday afternoon, and he has been given a dose of remdesivir. The president was being treated with an experimental polyclonal antibody cocktail and was taking zinc, vitamin D, famotidine, melatonin, and a daily aspirin.
