Achievement: Anne Arundel County Executive John R. Leopold joined state senators and delegates from Washington County in asking the U.S. Postal Service to create a stamp in honor of Thomas Kennedy, who sponsored legislation that allowed Jews to take elected office in Maryland. After the bill passed in 1826, two Jews were elected to the Baltimore City Council.
