Redoubled efforts by China, Turkey, and Iran to censor political dissent has resulted in the number of imprisoned journalists around the world reaching a record high, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. “In its annual census of imprisoned journalists, CPJ identified 232 individuals behind bars on December 1, an increase of 53 over its 2011 tally,” the organization reported today....
