ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A college president and New York City's former comptroller are among three members appointed to the state board that will select casino operators.
The New York State Gaming Commission on Thursday announced that former city comptroller William Thompson, Hofstra President Stuart Rabinowitz and Paul Francis, a high-level adviser to the last three New York governors, have been appointed to the Resort Gaming Facility Location Board.
New York voters in November passed a state constitutional amendment to allow Las Vegas-style casinos. The five-member siting board is scheduled to request applications for four casino licenses in upstate New York in March.
Casino sites and operators are scheduled to be announced in the early fall.
Board members are not paid, but receive expenses.
