New York State Senator Greg Ball criticized his colleagues in a speech on the floor of the state legislature last night after a new gun law passed the state legislature.

“We haven’t saved any lives tonight except for one,” he said emphatically. “The political life of a governor who wants to be president.”

The strict law expands the ban on semi-automatic weapons, reducing the capacity of a gun magazine to 7 rounds.

Ball scolded his colleagues for criminalizing law abiding tax paying citizens without helping families struggling with mental health problems.

“(Y)ou actually profess that you are magically saving lives, we are now turning those law abiding citizens into criminals, and tomorrow hoping that on the front pages we will be seen as preventing tragedies.”

Ball added that this did nothing to help citizens prevent mental health tragedies or help citizens defend themselves in their home.

“Good night,” he concluded shortly. “And I voted no and I only wish I could have done it twice.”
