Obama camp: Romney can outspend us by $4M/day for the rest of the election

President Obama has outspent Mitt Romney this election year, but his Republican opponent has the money to outspend him by $4 million a day for the rest of the election, according to Obama’s campaign manager.

“We just found out that Mitt Romney and the Republicans outraised us in the first half of this month, putting us $45 million behind during these crucial final days,” Obama campaign manager Jim Messina wrote in a fundraising plea to supporters.

“With that cash advantage, they can outspend us by $4 million per day, every day, for the final 11 days,” he warned.

Romney is certainly making a late push for undecided voters, but Obama has been disingenuously portraying himself as an  underdog in the money battle all year.

“Obama’s campaign has raised $326 million to Romney’s $227 million, according to filings with the Federal Election Commission and the campaign’s own reports of its June fundraising,” The Washington Examiner’s Tim Carney explained earlier this year, in light of Obama poor-mouthing himself. “That’s a 44 percent lead for Obama.”
