Perhaps Obama campaign press secretary Ben LaBolt should use a bit of caution before making accusations using information that has already been debunked.

“The debt clock at the Republican convention was appropriately placed next to a sign that said ‘We built this.’” LeBolt said, blaming Rep. Paul Ryan and Republicans for their policies leading the nation into deeper debt.

“Are you sure that wasn’t photoshopped?” asked ABC’s Jake Tapper, adding that he wasn’t “100 percent sure.”

LaBolt chuckled and didn’t respond to Tapper’s question.

But as Buzzfeed’s Matt Stopera reported last week, the widely shared photo showing the debt clock next to the “We built it” sign was photoshopped.

The debt clock and the “We Built It” sign were actually on opposite ends of the stadium in Tampa.
