Last night at a fundraiser co-hosted by actress Anne Hathaway, President Obama remarked that her performance in the new Batman movie was his favorite part.

After thanking Hathaway for hosting, Obama remarked, “I did get a chance to see Batman. And she was the best thing in it.”

Hathaway played the character of cat burglar Selena Kyle in the summer Batman blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises. Other notable performances included actors Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, and Michael Caine.

“That’s just my personal opinion,” Obama added.

Hathaway co-hosted the fundraiser in Connecticut with producer Aaron Sorkin at the beachfront property of Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Obama also praised Sorkin – the producer of The Newsroom series on HBO – explaining to the crowd that he “writes the way every Democrat in Washington wished they spoke.”

During his remarks, Weinstein reportedly compared Obama to actor Paul Newman because he was “not afraid to throw a punch.”

“Witness the raid on Osama bin Laden,” he said. “You can make the case he’s the Paul Newman of American presidents.”
