Tube socks?

In an unusual blue collar fashion offering among President Obama's trendy and chic choices in his online 2013 Inauguration store are $15 tube socks, stamped "BAM 44."

Says the site: "Our Obama 44 tube socks are a fun and stylish way to commemorate the 57th Presidential Inauguration. Made in the USA."

The last time tube socks were raised to a presidential level was when former President George H.W. Bush, in a reelection campaign bid to look like a regular consumer and spark some recession spending went to a Maryland J.C. Penney's and dropped $28 for four pairs of tube socks and a toddler's sweat suit. It didn't work.

More trendy are the items dedicated to first pup Bo, like a toddler suit and t-shirt for young kids. To win over parents, the Inauguration site notes that the kiddy items are made of "organic cotton." Other clothing items aren't.
