President Obama explained that he was "actually optimistic" immigration reform could get done.

"I am actually optimistic that we're going to get this done," he said during a Wall Street Journal CEO council meeting on Tuesday, without giving specifics on a political strategy.

"I am a congenital optimist," he added. "I'd have to be, I'm named Barack Obama and I ran for president so, — "

"And won," replied interviewer Jerry Seib.

"And won twice," Obama reminded him with a smile.
