After President Obama was introduced by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, he explained to the famous rap artist that they had something in common.

“Beyoncé couldn’t be a better role model for our daughters because she carries herself with such class and poise and has so much talent,” Obama said. “And Jay-Z now knows what my life is like. We both have daughters, and our wives are more popular than we are.”

The celebrity couple had their first child, a daughter they named Blue Ivy, in January.

“So we’ve got a little bond there,” Obama added.

Tickets for Jay-Z and Beyoncé fundraiser at the 40/40 club cost $40,000; with a guest list of about 100.
