President Obama joked Monday that he saw some governors who visited the White House during the National Governors Association winter meeting “size up the drapes.”

“I enjoyed watching some of you with your eyes on higher office size up the drapes — and each other,” Obama told state leaders.

On Sunday night, Obama had hosted the governors for a White House dinner, where he also joked that those with 2016 ambitions should make themselves feel at home.

“I'm sure some of you are thinking that's been the plan all along,” Obama had said.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, is seen as a potential heavyweight if he decides to jump in the race for the GOP nomination.

Fellow Gov. Deval Patrick, D-Mass., said in an interview with Politico that he was opening to weighing a 2016 bid.
