Obama "visited briefly" with Davis after delivering remarks at the Lyndon Baines Johnson Presidential Library for a summit marking the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act, according to the White House.
Gov. Rick Perry signed the bill into effect last year, but Davis was able to raise her profile and attract funds from Democrats around the nation.
Abbott’s campaign had questioned if Davis would meet publicly with Obama during his visit, seeking to tie her to the president in red-state Texas.
The president is on the second day of a trip to the Lone Star State and attended a memorial service for those slain in a mass shooting at Fort Hood military base on Wednesday as well as a fundraiser in Houston.
