President Obama will make the first trip of his presidency to Israel this spring, also visiting the West Bank and Jordan, the White House said Tuesday.

Obama and recently re-elected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed the trip during a recent meeting at the White House. According to Israel’s Channel 10, the trip is scheduled for March 20.

Obama last visited Israel and Jordan as a presidential candidate in 2008. Since then, some have accused the president of not doing enough to support the United States’ biggest ally in the Middle East.

In addition to visiting Israel, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said the president would discuss regional issues with the Palestinian Authority and Jordanian officials.
