President Obama on Monday will call on Congress to unite behind a plan to keep the government funded as lawmakers creep closer to their midnight deadline with no compromise in sight.

The White House announced that Obama will make a statement at 4:45 p.m.

Obama will address reporters as lawmakers show scant, if any, progress for a last-minute compromise.

The Senate earlier Monday rejected a House plan that would delay Obamacare for one year, while GOP leaders insisted they would not support a so-called clean resolution to keep the government funded.
