President Obama on Wednesday will roll out his proposals to stem gun violence, according to multiple sources familiar with the event at the White House.

Obama will call for a federal assault weapons ban, universal background checks for firearm purchasers and a prohibition of high-capacity ammunition clips, the officials said.

Each of those proposals would require approval from Congress. And even Obama conceded that they face an uphill battle in the GOP-controlled House.

“Will all of them get through this Congress?” Obama said during a press conference Monday. “I don’t know.”

The president will also announce 19 initiatives he'll enact by executive orders – without congressional approval – that would tighten enforcement of current gun laws and expand the sharing of weapons data between agencies, among other changes.
