President Obama will travel to the suburbs of Oklahoma City on Sunday to view the damage caused by a tornado that killed 24 people, once again playing comforter-in-chief in the wake of a natural disaster.

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney announced Wednesday that Obama would make the trek to Moore, Okla., where as many as 13,000 homes were destroyed by a monstrous tornado.

Obama on Tuesday pledged to give the state whatever help it needed.

“Our prayers are with the people of Oklahoma today, and we will back up those prayers with deeds for as long as it takes,” Obama vowed.
