reports that President Obama sent a letter of support to a 10-year-old girl after she wrote the president asking for advice on how to deal with kids who say her same-sex dads are “disgusting.” The letter was posted by one of her dads on his Facebook page.

“Thank you for writing me such a thoughtful letter about your family. Reading it made me proud to be your president and even more hopeful about the future of our nation,” Obama’s letter stated.

“In America, no two families look the same. We celebrate this diversity. And we recognize that whether you have two dads or one mom what matters above all is the love we show one another.” Obama continued. “You are very fortunate to have two parents who care deeply for you. They are lucky to have such an exceptional daughter in you.”

“This is not about President Obama – it’s about what’s right,” wrote one of her dads on his Facebook page. “So frankly, if you don’t agree with the innocent, heartfelt and surprisingly straightforward position of my 10 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, then please unfriend me because we don’t actually belong connected here in the first place.”
