CINCINNATI (AP) — Ohio's Republican U.S. senator says website woes are more evidence that President Obama's health care overhaul should be halted.
Sen. Rob Portman, of the Cincinnati area, says the Healthcare.gov site is an indicator of what's ahead in the health care rollout. He says the overhaul is a complex program that will hurt the economy, and the way the website has been plagued by technical malfunctions highlights a system that isn't ready.
Portman isn't among those calling for ousting Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. He says that won't solve the problems with the overhaul.
He made the comments Thursday in his home area after a roundtable discussion on a different topic — legislation to help convicts get jobs, education and other support to reduce repeat offenses.
