OBERLIN, Ohio (AP) — Ohio's Oberlin College has been honored by a nonprofit organization for its array of environmental programs and initiatives.

The honor comes from the U.S. Green Building Council which promotes environmental concerns.

The council says Oberlin, located southwest of Cleveland, is the nation's best four-year higher education institution in terms of environmental initiatives.

The environment is incorporated in the Oberlin curriculum, campus work opportunities and college events, architecture and landscaping.

The council says Oberlin has the largest solar array of any four-year, liberal arts college in the U.S. It generates about 12 percent of the electricity used on campus.
