SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) — The Georgia O'Keeffe Museum has a new curator.

The museum announced this week that Cody Hartley has been hired as the director of curatorial affairs. He will take over the position April 29.

Hartley comes to New Mexico from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, where he was an assistant curator of paintings and later the museum's director of gifts of art.

Hartley's academic and professional background is rooted in Southwestern art. For example, his Ph.D. dissertation focused on the emergence of museums in Santa Fe. He received his degree in art history from the University of California-Santa Barbara in 2005.

The change comes as the museum prepares for its next exhibition: "Georgia O'Keeffe in New Mexico: Architecture, Katsinam, and the Land." It will open on May 17.
