OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (AP) — A vast swatch of land just outside Olive Branch is at the center of a fire storm of opposition as developers try to get the property rezoned for a business park.
The Commercial Appeal reports (http://bit.ly/1p6hF5s ) at least part of the property has been cattle land for years, but now more than 200 acres of it could become home to various commercial uses and light manufacturing.
The site is just south of Miss. 302.
Area residents are concerned about increased traffic, safety and other potential changes. They want to present officials with as many opposition signatures on petitions as possible.
The Board of Supervisors is slated to hear the rezoning application at its Monday meeting in Hernando. The land sits just to the east of the Olive Branch city limits.
