Olympia Gaming revising Sparks Marina casino plans

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — The developers of a proposed hotel-casino at the Legends Marina in Sparks are moving ahead with plans for a scaled-down version of the project that's been on the drawing board for more than six years.

Las Vegas-based Olympia Gaming goes before the Sparks City Council on Monday with a proposed amendment to the special use permit it earlier obtained for the property along Interstate 80.

Olympia originally unveiled plans to build an 800-room tower in 2007 and more recently downsized that to a 200-room hotel called "Legends Bay."

The newest plans call for two 100-room buildings and a 60,000 square foot casino.

Sparks city planner Armando Ornelas tells the Reno-Gazette Journal (http://on.rgj.com/16D1MJS ) that company officials have indicated "they want to go forward in the relatively near future."
