Fundraising has begun for the presidential hopefuls leading Maryland and Virginia.

Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley is scheduled to meet with potential donors in Los Angeles this week, and South Carolina Gov. Jim Hodges, a Democrat, is co-hosting a fundraiser for O'Malley's leadership Political Action Committee in Chevy Chase on Dec. 10, Politico reports.

Meanwhile, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell met with casino magnate Sheldon Adelson at his Venetian Resort Hotel Casino last month in an effort to woo the man who shelled out close to $150 million to back Republican candidates in the last election.

Neither governor has officially announced his candidacy.
