Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley will make his third trip to New Hampshire in September, looking to deepen his connections in the key early-primary state as he weighs a bid for president.

O'Malley, who has said he is weighing whether to run for president, will headline a Portsmouth City Democrats dinner on Sept. 26, WMUR reported Friday. O'Malley was last in New Hampshire earlier this month, helping to raise money for Democrats.

As many Democrats have held off on positioning themselves to run for president until Hillary Clinton decides whether she will launch a campaign, O'Malley has been keeping up a normal pace of frequent travel to early primary states.

He has also begun to send staffers to help campaigns in Iowa, New Hampshire, and other states, another traditional strategy for currying favor with Democrats for a presidential bid.

Still, public surveys show O'Malley continues to barely register with voters nationally, polling in the low single-digits against more well-known Democrats, including Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
