MEMBERS OF THE PAKISTANI TALIBAN ARE TAKING CREDIT FOR A DEADLY FIVE-HOUR ASSAULT ON THE BUSIEST AIRPORT IN THE REGION.

GUNMEN DRESSED AS POLICE GUARDS STORMED THE INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL IN KARACHI... SETTING OFF EXPLOSIONS AND KILLING 18 PEOPLE...

THE ATTACK WHICH STARTED LATE SUNDAY WHEN 10 GUNMEN STORMED THE AIRPORT AND OPENED FIRE WITH MACHINE GUNS AND ROCKET LAUNCHERS.

LOCALS COULD HEAR THE ATTACKS NEARBY WHICH LATER ERUPTED IN A FIERY BLAZE...

THIS ONE WITNESS SAYS HE HEARD A DEAFENING BLAST AND SAW A BLAZE IN THE HANGAR ARE OF THE AIRPORT JUST AS GUNFIRE INTENSIFIED.

A GUNBATTLE BETWEEN POLICE UNFOLDED WHICH KILLED ALL THE ATTACKERS ACCORDING TO PAKISTAN OFFICIALS.

TALIBAN OFFICIALS SAY THE ASSAULT WAS IN REVENGE FOR THE KILLING OF THE MILITANT GROUP'S LEADER IN A US DRONE STRIKE LAST NOVEMBER.
