< p>ALBANY, Vt. (AP) — A group of parents in a Vermont school district has filed a complaint with the state Education Department saying their children aren't getting a proper education in science.

The parents of a combined third- and fourth-grade class at the Albany Community School say a teacher who formerly taught fourth-grade English and social studies was told to teach science, too.

The parents said the teacher told them at an open house that she feels overwhelmed with her additional duties.

The Caledonian-Record reports (http://bit.ly/10ewXrK) Principal Jill Chaffee wrote to parents that there are no financial resources in the current budget to hire additional staffing. She said the middle school science teacher will help primary grade teachers enhance the science program.
