MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — A team from Parkersburg High School has won West Virginia's Science Bowl.

Parkersburg High was among 64 teams competing in regional competition over the weekend at the National Energy Technology Laboratory in Morgantown.

A similar contest for middle-school students is Feb. 22 in Triadelphia.

Parkersburg High moves on to the national competition April 25-29 in Washington, D.C. Last year, more than 1,500 high school and more than 1,100 middle school teams competed.

The U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Science sponsors the science bowl to encourage children to pursue educations and careers in science and math.
