Democrat-turned-Republican Gene Taylor failed in his comeback bid for Congress. Steven Palazzo, the man who ousted Taylor from the U.S. House in 2010, was officially declared the winner of the GOP primary in Mississippi’s 4th District by the Associated Press on Wednesday afternoon. Palazzo was just over the 50% threshold needed to avoid a runoff with Taylor, an 11-term congressman who now serves on the Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission. The AP said Taylor delayed conceding the race because of voting problems in one county.
