The tweets came gushing in soon after the announcement that Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., was Mitt Romney's VP pick -- House and Senate Republicans praised Ryan's character, fiscal sense and conservative bona fides. But it was Dennis Ross that most acutely summed up the Wisconsin budgeteer's credentials to be vice president.

"Paul Ryan -- avid bow hunter," Ross tweeted on Saturday. "That automatically makes him a great American."

One of Ross' followers responded, "Well, looks like we've lost the PETA vote." Ross cheerfully replied, "And the deer vote."
