Former Gov. Tim Pawlenty, R-Minn., during his Republican National Convention remarks, likened President Obama to the tattoo that a young person might get and then regret.

“Barack Obama is the tattoo president. Like a big tattoo, it seemed cool when we were younger, but later on, it doesnt look so cool,” Pawlenty joked. “You have to wonder, ‘what was I thinking?’ The worst part is, you have to explain it to your kids.”

Pawlenty then took a dig at Obama’s background as a community organizer, saying that he has been an unsurprising failure as a president. “That’s to be expected,” he quipped. “A lot of people fail at their first job.”

He turned that line into praise for Mitt Romney. “This hasn’t been his first job or his first time as a leader,” Pawlenty said. “Mitt Romney is not only a great leader, he’s also a remarkable person. He’s smart, gracious, and wise . . . Mitt Romney knows what our problems are and he has the tools and the experience and the energy and the right policies to fix them.”
