HAZARD, Ky. (AP) — An eastern Kentucky coal company has cut more than 100 workers citing a weak market.

WYMT-TV (http://bit.ly/Vq5WNh) reports the Perry County Coal Corporation laid off 156 workers on Friday at its three underground mines in Hazard. A statement from the company says the cuts were made "to match expected sales" in 2013.

The company said in a statement that if depressed market conditions recover, the employees would be rehired.
