< p>PETAL, Miss. (AP) — The Petal Board of Aldermen has voted to reject all sanitation proposals previously submitted to the city to take over the city's garbage collection.

Mayor Hal Marx tells the Hattiesburg American (http://hatne.ws/NhTdfa ) after discussion with the board on Tuesday, he and the aldermen feel the original bid proposals didn't fit with the city's needs. He said the first one dealt with price per household for collection and hauling and not for disposal, equipment or billing.

Companies seeking to resubmit proposals will need to include billing, keeping current employees and purchasing equipment.

It will take about 30 days to advertise and get proposals back. Marx said he still expects to settle the matter by the new fiscal year in October or shortly after.
