In a shot at the Obama administration's new focus on gun control measures, a new White House petition suggests that President Obama, Vice President Biden and their families come out of their security bubble and live like many Americans--in Gun Free Zones.

The petition, an obvious bid to ridicule the ineffective types of anti-gun measures lawmakers sometimes glom onto, suggests that the nation's leaders give up their Secret Service protection and instead simply establish a Gun Free Zone around them for security.

"Gun Free Zones are supposed to protect our children, and some politicians wish to strip us of our right to keep and bear arms. Those same politicians and their families are currently under the protection of armed Secret Service agents. If Gun Free Zones are sufficient protection for our children, then Gun Free Zones should be good enough for politicians," said the petition.

So far, 20,604 have signed the petition on the White House website.

Without saying so, the petition references the December Sandy Hook Elementary School slayings. The school is in a Gun Free Zone.

On Tuesday, Biden is expected to present new gun control measures to the president, who then plans to mount a campaign to win public support for them.
