Brooks Robinson stood before a room of high school all-stars and welcomed dozens of players into a rich history.

The North and South rosters for the 26th annual Brooks Robinson High School All-Star Game of Maryland, which takes place Sunday at Camden Yards at Oriole Park, were announced Thursday. The first pitch will be approximately 30-40 minutes after the Baltimore Orioles? 1:35 p.m. game against Colorado.

“This game would not go on if we did not have the support of the Baltimore Orioles,” said Dave Norton, the head coach of Mount St. Joseph?s team and coordinator of the all-star game.

Pitcher Ryan Rivers and outfielder Josh Kempa, key components to Eastern Tech?s 2007 Class 2A state championship team, will lead the North against the South, which features a pair of players from Arundel, pitcher Eric Potter and infielder Shawn Pleffner. The North holds a 14-9-2 advantage in the previous 25 games.

Texas Rangers first baseman Mark Teixeira, a Mount St. Joseph graduate, is one of many previous all-star game participants to play in the major leagues, including 120-game winner Denny Neagle, Brian Jordan and Gavin Floyd, among others.

“This has been a springboard for a lot of young kids going to college and the pros,” Robinson said.
