Please stop taking ACC by storm

N.C. State didn't even had a chance to relish its return to ACC favorite status after a victory over No. 1 Duke. The 18th-ranked Wolfpack (15-4, 4-2 ACC) have watched opposing fans rush the court in each of their last two losses.

Now, there's justification for what happened in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Tuesday. Wake Forest (10-8, 3-3), which lost by 26 points to Iona in November, earned its first victory over a ranked team in Jeff Bzdelik's two and a half seasons as coach.

But there's no excuse for fans storming the Comcast Center floor after Maryland's 51-50 win over N.C. State last week. In the last six years, the Terrapins have missed the NCAAs three times, and the Wolfpack have reached the tournament only once.

Only four days before, N.C. State sent PNC Arena in Raleigh into a state of euphoria by beating the Blue Devils. After what has happened since, it wouldn't be a shock to see fans on the floor again Saturday if the Wolfpack topple rival North Carolina.
