Pokagon Band's Dowagiac casino to open April 30

DOWAGIAC, Mich. (AP) — An Indian tribe plans to open its third casino in southwestern Michigan at the end of the month.

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians announced Monday that its new Four Winds Dowagiac facility will be open for business on April 30. Dowagiac is in Cass County, about 90 miles southwest of Grand Rapids.

The Pokagon Band already operates the Four Winds Casinos in New Buffalo and Hartford.

The new casino has 300 slot machines, four table games and a restaurant.

Pokagon Band Chairman Matt Wesaw says Four Winds Dowagiac "has created approximately 100 new jobs for Pokagon citizens and people living in nearby communities."
