D.C. police investigate stabbing death

District police are investigating the stabbing of an elderly man found dead in Northwest D.C.

Police said 68-year-old Howard Venable Jr. died of stab wounds inside a residence on the 1600 block of Fuller Street NW.

Police did not release any information about suspects. A $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect.

Woman found dead on Columbia Road

A woman was found dead early Sunday afternoon in Northwest D.C.

Police received a call around 2:15 p.m. reporting an unconscious person in the 1300 block of Columbia Road NW and found the woman's body.

A cause of death was not released.

Prince George's firefighter injured in blaze

A Prince George's County firefighter was treated for minor burns after a Sunday afternoon blaze at an abandoned building.

Fire crews were called to the vacant building on Kingsfield Lane in Bowie, Md., at 12:30 p.m.

The second floor of the building was ablaze, and firefighters were evacuated from the building once the flames started showing through the roof.

The injured firefighter was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released for minor burns.

A Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokeswoman said the cause of the fire was under investigation.

Man dropped off at D.C. firehouse with gunshot wound

District police said a man was dropped off at a Northeast fire station Sunday afternoon suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

The man, whose name police did not release, was dropped off at the firehouse on the unit block of 49th Street NE.

Police did not reveal which hospital he was taken to. -Andy Brownfield
