Woman arrested for role in lover's murder-for-hire scheme

An Annapolis woman was arrested in a murder-for-hire plot to kill the wife of her lover, police said.

Cynthia Mills, 47, turned herself in after Anne Arundel County police obtained an arrest warrant Friday. She was identified after an investigation into Wendell Mansel, who was arrested in August 2012 in Leesburg, Va., after attempting to hire a hit man -- actually an undercover police officer -- to kill his wife. The investigation revealed Mills and Mansel were having an affair.

Police said that Mills helped in planning the scheme and provided some of the money used to pay the phony hit man. She is being held without bond.

Man arrested for P.G. bank robbery

Police arrested D.C. resident Theandre Moore, 54, in connection with a Seat Pleasant bank robbery.

According to police, Moore went to the Bank of America on the 5800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway at 9 a.m. on Jan. 8, led a teller to believe he had a weapon and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Prince George's County police released a description of the robber as well as his vehicle. D.C. police observed Moore driving in the city and noticed his car matched that description. They pulled him over and eventually arrested him after matching his physical appearance to that of the robber.

Police said that Moore admitted his involvement in the bank robbery and is currently awaiting extradition from D.C. to Maryland.

D.C. man dies after bicycle accident

A D.C. man died in an apparent bicycle accident early Saturday morning, according to police.

The man was found on the 700 block of Morton Street at 5 a.m. and taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

There was no evidence of wrongdoing or a collision. Police said that it appeared he was carrying something that came loose and became lodged in the wheels of his bicycle, causing the fall.
