Police stop trio leaving body in woods

Anne Arundel County police arrested three people after they spotted a man walking away from a dead gunshot and stabbing victim in a wooded area in Glen Burnie.

Police responded to a report of a disturbance about 4 a.m. Sunday in the area of Tanyard Cove Road and Marley Neck Boulevard, and found a man walking on the desolate road toward one of two parked vehicles.

Officers stopped him and a man and woman in the other car, and followed tracks into the woods, where they found a man dead from a stabbing and gunshot wound.

Two arrested after shots fired at cops

Two men were arrested Saturday night in the Trinidad area after shots were fired at police, authorities said.

Officers in an unmarked vehicle approached two people who appeared to be following a man on Montello Avenue Northeast. One of the men fired several shots at the officers, but neither was struck, police said.

The officers did not return fire, and gave chase, capturing both suspects and recovering a firearm, police said.

U.Md. students targets in armed robberies

Two University of Maryland students were targeted for armed robberies Sunday, authorities said.

About 3 a.m., three males approached a student in the edge of campus on the 7400 block of Baltimore Avenue and punched him before taking his wallet and iPhone, said university police. An officer nearby chased the robbers, and they were arrested. Police say the robbers were armed with brass knuckles and a knife.

Early Sunday afternoon, campus police say someone inside a student apartment building pulled a handgun and tried to steal a student's laptop. A scuffle ensued, and the gunman fled. Campus police and Prince George's County police are investigating.
