Prince George's County Police have identified the two people killed Sunday in an intentionally set fire in New Carrollton.

The victims were identified as John Michael Abbate, 45, of the 7600 block of Fontainbleau Drive, New Carrollton, and Tanya Winston, 53, of the 8600 block of Leslie Avenue, Glenarden.

Police said Anthony Andre Allain, 44, barricaded himself and the victims inside the residence in the Fountain Club Apartments and lit the apartment on fire.

Fire crews discovered Abbate dead in the apartment where the fire started.

Winston was found three-stories below on the ground suffering from serious burn injuries and upper-body trauma. She was taken to a hospital where she died.

Police said Tuesday that Allain and Abbate lived together in the apartment.

Allain, who was hospitalized after the blaze, will be charged with two counts of murder and first-degree arson, police said.
