Anne Arundel County police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old boy who was reported to have drowned.

About 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the 600 block of Old Riverside Road in Brooklyn, Md., for a report of a drowning.

Witnesses told police the boy was at a function with his family, and toward the end of the evening family members realized he was missing. His father found him at the bottom of a pool, officials said.

The boy was taken to a hospital, and he was pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m. Wednesday.
