Police investigate shooting near Capitol Hill East

< p>District of Columbia homicide detectives were on the scene of a shooting in near Capitol Hill East.

Police spokesman Paul Metcalf said the calls for a shooting came from several locations around 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, and paramedics found a gunshot victim at 14th and K streets SE. The victim, an adult male, was conscious and breathing and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Homicide detectives typically go to crime scenes where the victim may die.

Police were also investigating whether a vehicle crash located in the 1000 block of South Carolina Avenue SE was related to the shooting.
