Police investigating death of woman found in Northeast D.C.

Detectives are investigating the death of a woman who was found this morning in Northeast D.C.

About 5 a.m. Wednesday, police went to the 1900 block of Fenwick Street NE and discovered the woman unconscious and unresponsive, D.C. police said. Fire and EMS personnel did not find any signs consistent with life, and the woman was pronounced dead by a member of the medical examiner's office.

The woman's identity is unknown, police said, and her cause of death is pending an autopsy.
