A community meeting with police and city leaders in Capitol Hill has been scheduled for Tuesday in the wake of a brutal beating of a resident over the weekend.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Hill Center, 921 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, according to Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner Ivan Frishberg. It had been tentatively scheduled for this week.

Ward 6 Councilman Tommy Wells and First District Cmdr. Daniel Hickson are expected to attend, as well as other ANCs, Frishberg said.

The meeting follows a shocking attack on a Hill resident that occurred sometime late Friday night or early Saturday morning. The resident, 29-year-old solar energy analyst Thomas Maslin, was found unconscious on the doorsteps of one a North Carolina Avenue Southeast townhouse Saturday morning. Although not confirmed by police, it appears as if Maslin was attacked and went door-to-door to call for help but could not find anyone home.

Maslin is still hospitalized and has undergone two brain surgeries since Saturday.
